About The Retreat

 Spend a weekend in a gorgeous setting among a supportive community trying out, or engaging more deeply with, the enlivening practices of yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and clean eating. Sarah Jane’s recipe for a living with vitality, peace, and purpose: nourish the body, heal the heart, and train the mind. With Five Elements Living founder Shelby Connelly, L.Ac, M.Ac, and local Wise Woman Nurse Paula Youmell, she designed this weekend for sharing practices and rituals that you can customize and integrate with your routine in order to live your best life. Maybe it is waking before the rest of the family to move through enlivening sun salutations, sticking to a nourishing whole foods diet, or meditating daily followed by journaling to investigate a potential new direction. Don’t exactly have one of those routines, or lost it along the way? Not a problem! Start fresh with us.

Activities will wrap up on Sunday, July 29 at noon.

This weekend is appropriate for beginners who want to dip their toes in, as well as for regular practitioners who will appreciate the refuge, nourishing meals, and self-led practice time. Either way, make a break from what may have started to feel like an overly busy or stagnant routine, and re-orient your body-heart-mind toward health. You will leave with deeper self-knowledge, fresh ideas for truly nourishing and sustainable self-care, and energy and commitment to sustain your new ways of being. Hit the reset button with us this summer!  

About the Instructors

Sarah Jane Shangraw

Sarah Jane Shangraw

Sarah Jane Shangraw works in publishing and teaches yoga and meditation in Boston. She has earned several yoga and mindfulness teacher certifications and studies the deeper intersections of yoga, Buddhism, and psychology through the Insight Yoga Institute. In summer she leaves the city and telecommutes from her tiny house on Higley Flow in Colton, NY. 

Shelby Connelly

Shelby Connelly

Shelby Connelly, L.Ac, M.Ac, has been practicing holistic acupuncture for 20 years. In 2015, she founded Five Elements Living in Colton, NY, a retreat center and boutique inn with a naturally lit central gathering space, well-appointed overnight rooms, and an ever-expanding organic garden. In her quest of “Redefining being alive” she also created Five Elements Living TV, episodes of which show her investigating and sharing holistic, complementary, and fun health-oriented opportunities locally and throughout the state.

Paula Youmell

Paula Youmell

Paula Youmell, RN, MS. is a Functional Medicine – Natural Health Educator, Herbalist, & Yoga Teacher. She has a private consultation practice discovering root causes of client’s health struggles and creates personalized educational plans to support restoring their vital health. She is a North Country Native living in Potsdam.
